Wilfred Yap helps the lower income group
SUPP Public Complaints Bureau (SUPP PCB) Chief, Wilfred Yap assisted the scavenger workers to set up an association named “Persatuan Pencinta Kitar Semula Taman BDC Kuching”. BDC清洁工向叶耀星求助
砂拉越人民联合党公共投诉局主任叶耀星日前接获一批来自BDC回收中心清洁工人的协助请求。清洁工人们告知他们已在BDC回收站工作了7年；且南市市政局批准他们将公众丢弃的衣物和其他物品分开以进行回收。 清洁工人们也告知人联党公共投诉局他们仅仅靠这份回收站微薄的收入来维持家庭生计。他们的收入来自他们所分类的衣物及物品的销售；因为南市市政局并不向他们支付日薪或月薪。 收到协助请求后，叶耀星及南市市议员李永财协助工人们设立古晋BDC回收爱好者协会。工人设立工会的目的在于鼓励BDC地区的居民回收废物并解决过度浪费问题。另外，工会也代表工人与南市市政局协商订立进一步的协议或备忘录；允许清道夫工人继续在BDC回收中心工作。 该协会已委任人联党公共投诉局主任叶耀星为法律顾问，南市市议员李永财也同意协助将该会案例提交予南市市政局；让南市评估并考虑该工会管理BDC回收中心的要求。他们也答应遵从南市市政局官员的指示，即保持该回收中心的整洁。 人联党公共投诉局希望南市市政局可以同意允许该工会管理BDC回收中心的要求，进而加强他们的就业能力以改善生计。
