SKH Cup Football opening Ceremony
Minister for Local government and Housing, Datuk DR, Sim Kui Hian officiated the SKH Cup Football opening Ceremony at the Jubilee Field MBKS yesterday. He hoped that more Sarawakian through this program, can be selected to represent Sarawak football team (truly a multi racial team for the beautiful game) rather than as mere spectators at best and at worse becoming the illegal football gamblers.
Free Lanterns for Lanterns of Unity Parade
In conjunction with the Mid Autumn Festival, 3000 free lanterns will be distributed to members of the public in Kuching to participate in the Lanterns of Unity Procession on Saturday 7th October 2017. Dr Sim: Rabies outbreak yet to be eradicated in the state
Members of the public are advised against letting their guard down on rabies as the virus outbreak has yet to be eradicated in the state. Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian called to the public to help fight the outbreak of rabies so that the state will be rabies free. Zero-emission light-rail transit system planned for Greater Kuching
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is out to explore options for zero-emission train meant for the light-rail transit system planned for Greater Kuching. 世界狂犬病日
配合世界狂犬病日到来，赛诺菲巴斯德（Sanofi Pasteur）与砂地方政府及房屋部、大马卫生部、医药协会砂分部及砂兽医服务局携手举办主题为“共同消除狂犬病”的医疗护理人员及社区教育宣导计划，借此提高民众意识，以抑制砂州的狂犬病疫情扩散。 这项活动内容，包括适合医疗护理人员的医药研讨会，以及为社区领导人而办的“领袖培训”讲座，约有100人出席，他们主要来自受狂犬病影响的社区。这项活动希望通过知识宣导，让参加者进一步教育各自的社区有关疾病的知识，更重要的是，采取主动积极的措施以保障他们的社区免受狂犬病侵害。 砂拉越地方政府及房屋部长拿督沈桂贤在社区领导人的讲座环节发表演说时指出，虽然最近在西连县爆发新一轮的狂犬病疫情，但州内的狂犬病疫情扩散仍受到良好控制，这有赖于公共健康机构及当地兽医局协力合作，能及早辨识、治疗及抑制疫情的扩散。 “我们也承认，公众人士在这方面贡献了他们的力量，负责任的宠物主人都给予配合，并为他们的宠物接种狂犬病疫苗。无论如何，我们必需加倍努力以提高公众教育的宣导水平。” 沈桂贤强调，想要完全消除狂犬病对砂州的威胁，涵盖持续性公众教育及积极警觉性措施的长期管理方案，是阻止狂犬病疫情扩散的重要关键。他说明，越早侦察到感染狂犬病的动物并加以处理，就能越快采取措施阻止它咬人，进而降低感染人类的可能性。 截至9月份为止，砂拉越共有3万6899只宠物接种疫苗，在联合搜捕行动中捕获1694只流浪狗，以及有20宗被动物咬伤的新呈报案例，让砂拉越的咬伤案例增加至3790宗。另外，共有1397个砂拉越居民接种狂犬病疫苗。 拿督沈桂贤指出，全球每年平均有6万人死于狂犬病，其中，超过95%的病源是来自狗儿。 他表示，砂拉越向来被列为狂犬病白区，直至今年6月份被爆出接获3宗狂犬病病例，顿时引起人们的恐慌，不知所措。 截至今年9月29日，他指出，砂拉越共有5人因感染狂犬病而丧命，狂犬病疫区也从原本一个延伸至24个。
钱进一呼吁关怀弱势群体
砂拉越中区单亲妈妈公会手工家事皂制皂工作坊赞助人钱进一市议员呼吁社团公会也可以配合政府机构一起献爱心，一起关怀社会上的弱势群体，例如单亲家庭。 “在关怀单亲家庭之际，应尽力协助她们度过各种难关，不仅是提供短暂的协助后离开，应制定周全的解决方案来协助她们。” 钱进一希望在诗巫通过设立一站式单亲妈妈援助中心，来协助单亲妈妈们，让她们可以从中得到在职训练、创业经费资助、财务上的各类援助及保障单亲妈妈的福利。 同时，他也赞扬砂拉越中区单亲妈妈公会，姐妹们不分种族、宗教，大家团结互助，彼此鼓励，主办许多有意义的活动，让单亲妈妈们与时代接轨，培训她们的谋生能力。 “我国本地雇主过度依赖外劳员工的情况已非常严重，政府必须给予重视。根据移民局统计，去年国内合法外劳有近208万人，相信非法外劳人数更多，就2015年就有近347亿被汇回他们的国家，有关汇款数据有逐年增加的趋势。” 此外，他强调，非法外劳将导致社会治安败坏，他们的下一代都是没有身份的孩子，可能会衍生更多社会问题。 “相反的，我国许多被称为弱势群体的人士，都具有工作能力，却缺乏工作机会，导致他们无法提高生活水平，一直处在等待援助的状态。” 钱进一表示，诗巫缺乏一个为残障人士、单亲家庭、退休人士及久离职场的妈妈们提供就业培训中心。通过就业再培训计划，让我国人民积极就业，可以减缓过度依赖外劳员工的情况。 “同时也可提供弱势群体一个就业机会，依照个人能力及志愿，安排他们到工业、服务业及保安行业内工作，让他们提升收入及自力更生。”
第2届拿督沈桂贤医生足球杯
砂地方政府及房屋部长拿督沈桂贤于昨日主持第2届拿督沈桂贤医生足球杯开球礼。 这项足球赛是从昨日开始至本月29日，宗旨是栽培华裔足球员，让他们有朝一日可以代表砂拉越，达致种族团结精神。 沈桂贤说，砂拉越足球队曾是我国顶尖的球队，如今成绩不甚理想，令人不胜唏嘘。因此，他希望透过这项足球赛，可以重新带动华裔青年投入足球运动的兴趣及热诚，恢复砂拉越足球队及华裔球员当年的辉煌景象。 共有8支球队参与今年的赛事。
