New Year visit on Tan Sri Wong Soon Kai
Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Local government Minister who is also SUPP President, brought a group of Sibu leaders to pay a New year visit to comrade Tan Sri Datuk Patinggi Wong Soon Kai, SUPP Honourary Party President (3rd President) at the latter’s residence. 砂人联党巴都吉当区州议员兼巴达旺市议会主席罗克强于本月5日，与约60名社区领袖，包括天猛公、本固鲁、甲必丹、乡村安全与发展委员会执委、巴达旺市议员与职员等进行对话会。 这项对话会亦获得砂公共工程局、水利灌溉局、省公署、社会发展局和水务局的代表出席。 罗克强强调，与基层保持联系是极为重要的，除了面对面交流之外，也确保可以互相交换讯息，让彼此更加了解一些基层课题，并采取正确的行动解决。
沈桂贤推展古晋马拉松赛报名网站
一年一度的古晋马拉松赛将于今年8月13日举行，昨日由砂拉越地方政府部长拿督沈桂贤主持网站报名推展礼。 沈桂贤于推展仪式上致词时指出，这是他连续第二年号召支持古晋马拉松赛，他认为该马拉松赛的意义已超越了跑步，堪称是社会互动活动。 他说，砂拉越拥有多元民族和色彩，无论在一年内任何月份都有节庆活动，而古晋马拉松赛则落在8月举行，适逢本州旅游旺季，换言之，该马拉松赛具有巨大旅游潜能。 因此，除了爱好跑步者外，他呼吁家庭、机构及各非政府组织等积极参与。 他指出，类似活动其实可融入创意元素以吸引更多人参加，如砂拉越每年都会举办热带雨林音乐节，因此，他建议可以举办以雨林为主题的竞跑活动。 与此同时，他也希望今年的古晋马拉松赛较过去举办得更好。今年的古晋马拉松赛将设有5公里、10公里、21公里及42公里组别供参与者选择。 另一方面，活动上也推展“Great Borneo Series”奖牌。欲知更多详情或透过网络注册参与古晋马拉松赛事者可浏览www.marathonkuching.com。
范长锡感谢芦勃选民支持

砂人联党主席拿督沈桂贤于日前率领党领袖拜访党名誉主席丹斯里拿督巴丁宜黄顺开。 在场包括武吉阿瑟支部主席钱本统、巴旺阿山支部主席刘会耀、柏拉旺支部主席丁永豪、南甲支部主席蔡明成以及都东支部副主席黄振渊。 黄顺开是砂人联党的第三任党主席。
范长锡为泗里街中央礼堂开幕
砂人联党芦勃区州议员拿督斯里范长锡于本月5日为泗里街中央礼堂进行开幕仪式。 这座新的礼堂，将带给泗里街民众更大场地及空间，以方便进行各大型活动。 在同样的场合，拿督斯里范长锡也将乡村转型计划发展拨款所分配的204万令吉，移交给18所中小学，同时也将6万8500令吉的乡村发展基金，移交予20个公会和非政府组织。 另外，泗里街县参议会主席黄芝盈在仪式上指出，兴建第二期中央市集，是为了缓解第一期中央市集内日益拥挤的小贩及人潮，并提供了更大，更广阔舒适的空间给予小贩。 她感谢泗里街县议会及承包商在规定的时间内，完成兴建这座新中央市集和大礼堂。 她透露，第二期中央市集与中央大礼堂是在2015年4月20日开始兴建，直到2016年11月14日竣工，共耗资690万令吉。

Datuk Dr Sim: working visit to Padawan district police station
Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Local government Minister who is also the Adun for Batu Kawa paid a working visit to Padawan district police station yesterday afternoon. Dr. Sim who had a lengthy discussion with Padawan police Chief, Aidil Bolhassan said they discussed on many issues involving Batu Kawa. He said he is concerned on the crime activities, online gambling and traffic jams in the Batu Kawa area. Dr. Sim said he was also briefed by Aidil on community policing in the area, crime watch project and manpower issues.

砂首长署政治秘书程明智指出，美里麦当劳快餐连锁店已接获总公司指示，拆除有关“只允许携带清真认证蛋糕入店”的告示，可说是明智之举，这也是基于砂人民反对施压的效果。 他指出，美里麦当劳快餐连锁店是于日前张贴有关的告示牌，并已在今日除下；同时不阻止顾客携带任何蛋糕入店庆祝生日。 程明智今日发出文告强调，他在日前促麦当劳总部，勿将“不允许顾客携带没有清真认证蛋糕带入店”的作法，延伸到该店在全砂各地的连锁店，否则将号召杯葛，因为砂拉越是具有种族和谐的精神，并不欢迎有关作法。 据他所知，当麦当劳在西马实施有关的作法后，在砂拉越仅有美里的麦当劳快餐连锁店来随步，说是接获总公司的相关指示，但还是自行拆除有关告示牌，显示出砂各族包容性的文化是特出。 “据知，在全砂各地的麦当劳连锁店分行，迄今都没有出现只允许携带清真认证蛋糕入店，之前只有美里的麦当劳连锁店有跟步而已 。” 他说，对于商业性不合理带有沙文的要求，消费者是有权力给予拒绝，若有必要可群起来杯葛，这是消费人所享有的权益，也是合理化的。 他强调，砂首长丹斯里阿德南沙登是有一再强调，砂拉越各族能包容不同的文化、宗教是一大特点，也是砂人民所感骄傲的地方；砂政府也禁止西马的宗教极端分子及种族沙文主义分子踏足砂拉越。
陈超耀主持辉盛小贩中心慈善活动
辉盛小贩中心为庆祝迈入成立23周年庆，该中心22名小贩于本月5日联办慈善布施活动，成功筹获3400令吉的款项和食物，捐赠给有需要者。 辉盛小贩中心主席田福财指出，这是他们连续第四年举办相关慈善活动。 他们将物资如白米、麦片、干面、饼干和美禄等，捐赠给31名有需要的人士和慈善机构，同时也捐赠轮椅给予慈善机构。这些物资是来自社会善心人士和小贩自动自发捐献。 砂拉越人民联合党中央秘书长兼卑尔骚区州议员拿督陈超耀律师也受邀在场移交物资给受惠者。
Celebrating Christmas and New Year at the Senior Citizen Activities Center
State Assemblyman for Piasau, Dato’ Sebastian Ting spent some quality time celebrating Christmas and New Year with Miri Senior Citizens at the Senior Citizen Activities Center. Ting said the Senior Citizen Activities Center is a place for them to have some recreation activities. Most of them are noted to be talented, able to sing and dance in the centre every morning. They also organised exercise sessions in the early morning.
Hui Sing Hawker centre committee helping the needy
As part of their social obligation, Hui Sing Hawker centre committee has collected a total of RM34,000 worth of cash and food stuff to donate to the needy. Its Organising Chairman, Chang Hot Chai said this is the fourth year the committee has set out to do this. He said they had identified 31 needy persons and some welfare associations of which they gave food stuff like rice, oats, noodles, biscuits and Milo. There were also wheel chairs donated to welfare homes. Chang said since Chinese new year is round the corner, it is a timely project.Read More

Tiang: comment on McDonald’s policy that only halal certified cakes are allowed in
Michael Tiang, the political secretary for the Chief Minister of Sarawak released a press statement urging the management of McDonald’s not to extend their recent policy that it will only allow halal certified birthday cakes into their premises to Sarawak.
