Former Seduan YB Datuk Ting Ing Mieng passes on
Former Seduan assemblyman Datuk Ting Ing Mieng passed away at the age of 86 around 1pm yesterday at Kota Samarahan Heart Centre.
Ting was one of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) leaders who contested under the Barisan Nasional (BN) banner in the then Seduan state constituency in 1983, 1987 and 1991 polls.
He was also former chairman of Sarawak Timber Association in the 1970s and also former chairman of Sibu Municipal Council and Rajang Port Authority.
SUPP president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian described Ting as a great party leader and a loyalist.
“Despite his age, he never failed to show concern and in supporting the party, for instance the SUPP Chinese New Year gatherings,” said Dr Sim who is also a Senator.
“Our sincerest thanks for his contribution to the people of Sarawak, to Sarawak and to SUPP over the years. Our deepest condolences also go to his family. May Datuk’s soul R.I.P,” he added.
The late Ting leaves behind two sons and two daughters. His wife Datin K G Lu passed away 12 years ago.
He will be laid to rest this Saturday morning at the Methodist Cemetery in Mile 6 Jalan Penrissen after a funeral service at Chindaw Methodist church here.
