Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), together with the other three Sarawak Barisan component parties, will continue to support Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia and Chairman of Barisan Nasional.
SUPP Central Publicity and Information Secretary Adam Yii expressed that Malaysia is facing changes and challenges and therefore Malaysians must preserve the current stability and peace in order to overcome the challenges faced, and to continue to support the current ruling government is one of the important factor.
After Dato’ Sri Najib was sworn in as the sixth Prime Minister, he shows his leadership in implementing various transformation programs and adopting people first spirit. He has repeatedly visited Sarawak and the developments he brought to Sarawak was more than all previous prime ministers combined.
Adam also said Dato’ Sri Najib recognizes the status of Sarawak in Malaysia by declaring 16th September as Malaysia Day. This marks an important recognition for Sarawak and its multi racial community.
SUPP promotes religious harmony by reflecting the financial needs of different religious associations, to which Najib provided not less than 6 million ringgits allocation. He also approved Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) Heart Centre at Kota Samarahan to ease congestion at the SGH.
As Education Minister in 1999, he approved Curtin University of Technology of Perth, Western Australia to set up its Sarawak Campus in Miri. This was the first licence issued for foreign universities to set up offshore campuses in Malaysia.
SUPP is confident that under the leadership of Dato’ Sri Najib , Barisan Nasional will be able to win the next election for the sake of the rakyat, and with the close co-operation with Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Adenan, Sarawakians will enjoy a brighter future ahead.
