SUPP demand for electoral fairness
As the Election commission objection closed by 5 pm yesterday, the department had received a total of 56 objections in the last one month.
Yesterday, SUPP, led by Secretary General, Dato’ Sebastian Ting, were there to hand in their petition.
Ting handed over a “demand for electoral fairness” petition where the party had collected 7,301 signatures.
He said SUPP protested on four areas, Pahlawan, Dudong, Serian and Senadin.
“We proposed to the EC that the biggest number of voters was in Pahlawan where the number is 31,388 and the smallest area Gedong is 6,340 which is a ratio of 1:5.
“This is an in balance of voters in different area. So you can see the gap is wide and we are asking for a more fair and balance number of voters in each constituency. It is nothing racial but more of a balance number,” he said citing an example that in Nangka, there were over 7000 voters and Pahlawan was just adjacent to it but with a huge number of voters.
The Sarawak Election Commission will compile these objections and submitted them to KL office for a decision to be made.
