Dato Sebastian: Assistance for flood victims
SUPP Secretary General Dato Sebastian Ting urges the community to help those affected by the floods with warm clothing and blankets, dried and canned foods that can be consumed with ease and kept in the event of increasing floods.
He had visited the flood sites at Batu Kitang and the flood centres. Dato’ Sebastian is very concerned from being in the flood affected areas, with the sentiments of worry particularly with the anticipated high tide over the next few days.
It certainly takes to be in it to experience and feel the despair of those who are deeply concerned that the floods could block off access to help and basic necessities.
Once again he urged the community to come together to help those in need of help. From the experience there and feel how much the temperature has dropped over continuous heavy rain, he hoped that more warm clothes, blankets and raincoats can be brought to our fellow brothers and sisters who need our help. And food supplies that can travel through the floods and keep for emergency like biscuits, and canned foods are really in need as some places do not have access to cooking facilities.
In Baram, there have been serious flooding and we hope to send more of the above warm clothing, blankets, dried and canned food and other useful items.
Dato Sebastian advised those who wish to help to get in touch with any of the SUPP branches throughout Sarawak.
