Roof for resident at Stampin Resettlement Scheme completed
Kota Sentosa Assemblyman for conducted a final inspection of the newly installed roofing at a house in Lorong 28, Stampin Resettlement Scheme, following assistance provided under the Minor Rural Project – Program Penambahbaikan Rumah Rakyat Miskin Sarawak (MRP-PPRMS).
The assistance was provided after the house owner had earlier approached Yap to seek help to replace the house’s very dilapidated and leaking roof, which had caused considerable inconvenience and concern, particularly during heavy rain.
During the visit, Yap inspected the completed roofing works together with the relevant parties and met with the homeowner to ensure that the work had been satisfactorily completed.
“For a family, having a safe and weatherproof roof over their heads is not a luxury as it is a basic necessity. When a resident came forward to seek assistance because their roof was badly damaged and leaking, we did what we could to help. Today, I am pleased to see that the new roofing has been completed and the family can have greater peace of mind,” said Yap.
He stressed that government assistance programmes such as MRP-PPRMS play an important role in helping families improve basic living conditions, especially those who may not have the financial means to undertake essential repairs on their own.
“Our responsibility is not merely to hear people’s problems, but to find practical solutions wherever possible. This is what service to the community is about small interventions can make a big difference to a family’s daily life,” he said.
