Dr Sim on the coming Budget
Budget 2015 wishes.
Though different segment of of the Malaysian societies have different wishes, the priority wishes for me is to have TARGETED measures to help the rakyat on the rising cost of living. No one likes to depend on “subsidies or hand outs”. Hence he would like to see that budget 2015 have programs for job creations (including more high income jobs) as well as training programs to allow those working to have greater opportunity for a higher income.
Housing is the basic need of the rakyat. Though cost of housing is beyond most of the young people, not only in Malaysia but also in Singapore and Melbourne, we wish to see more housing programs, not only for the lower income group but also to assist the middle income group (which we often assume they are doing fine).
In politics, there is often no easy but hard decisions. On the other hand a no decision is not an option. Politicians have to make not just the right decision but the best.
Looking forward to the Budget 2015 tabled by the Prime Minister tomorrow, it will be the first time he will witness the event in person in parliament.
