Wilfred Yap Hands Over RM20,000 MRP Grant to Sam San Kuet Bong Temple for Upgrading Works

Kota Sentosa Assemblyman, YB Wilfred Yap Yau Sin, today visited the Sam San Kuet Bong Temple at Seven Mile to officially hand over a Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant amounting to RM20,000 to support upgrading works at the temple.

The grant will be utilised to pay for the workmanship costs associated with the installation of granite tiles within the temple premises, a project aimed at improving the safety, cleanliness, and overall environment of the temple for devotees and visitors.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Yap said places of worship play an important role in fostering community harmony, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting moral values within society.

“I am pleased to support Sam San Kuet Bong Temple through this RM20,000 MRP grant. The installation of granite tiles will enhance the temple’s facilities and provide a more comfortable environment for devotees and the local community,” he said.

Yap added that the GPS State Government remains committed to supporting places of worship of all faiths throughout Sarawak as part of its policy of inclusivity, religious harmony, and community development.

He noted that MRP grants are intended to assist community-based organisations, associations, and places of worship in carrying out projects that directly benefit the public.

“I will continue to work closely with community leaders and organisations in Kota Sentosa to identify and address their needs, ensuring that development and assistance reach all segments of society,” he added.

The temple committee expressed its appreciation to YB Wilfred Yap and the Sarawak Government for their continued support towards the temple’s development and community activities.
