Teachers are key pillar of national development, says Sebastian Ting
Piasau State Assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting said teachers are an important pillar in the development of the nation and society, playing an indispensable role in nurturing the country’s future generations.
He said without the dedication and hard work of teachers, there would not be professionals in various sectors today, including doctors, lawyers, engineers, accountants and entrepreneurs.
“Teaching is not an easy profession. It requires great sacrifice, responsibility and commitment, especially in today’s rapidly evolving technological era where students constantly need to learn new knowledge.
“Before teaching students, teachers themselves must continue learning, sacrificing their own time to study, understand, process and simplify new knowledge before effectively passing it on to students. This is certainly not an easy task, and therefore we must appreciate and be grateful for the contributions of teachers,” he said.
He said this when speaking at the Teachers’ Day dinner and retirement farewell ceremony organised by SK Kampung Luak.
Ting said the dinner was not merely a gathering, but also an important occasion to express appreciation and gratitude to teachers who had long served with dedication in educating and caring for students.
He also took the opportunity to thank teachers who would be leaving or retiring for their years of service and contributions to the school, students and the education sector.
“The unwavering support and dedication shown by teachers throughout the years will always be remembered by the school, students and parents,” he added.
At the same time, Ting welcomed newly posted teachers to SK Kampung Luak and expressed hope that they would continue working closely with the school in shaping a better future for children.
“Teachers’ Day is a recognition of the efforts and perseverance shown by teachers throughout the year in strengthening the national education system and nurturing the younger generation,” he said.
On behalf of the Sarawak government and parents, he extended his appreciation to teachers nationwide for their commitment and sacrifices in the field of education.
Meanwhile, Ting revealed that over the years, he had channelled a total of RM600,000 through the Rural Transformation Programme allocation to SK Kampung Luak to upgrade and improve school facilities.
“I hope these allocations will help improve the teaching and learning environment, provide teachers with better facilities, and enable students to study in a more comfortable, safe and conducive environment, ultimately producing more talented individuals who can contribute to the future development of society and the nation,” he said.
