Phase 2 to complete school hall at SK Sungai Stutong BDC

Sentosa State Assemblyman, Wilfred Yap today witnessed the official handing back of the completed Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2023 project by the Public Works Department (JKR) at SK Sungai Stutong BDC.

The project, with an allocation of RM200,000, involved Phase 1 of the construction of a covered open school hall at the existing court site.
Although Phase 1 delivered only half of the intended structure, Yap said the completed portion is already providing a safer and more conducive environment for students and school activities.

“While Phase 1 of the project is a meaningful step forward, more needs to be done to fully realise the vision of a complete open school hall for the benefit of students and the wider community,” he said.

Yap explained that due to limited RTP funds, careful prioritisation is necessary to ensure fair distribution across the constituency.

“Given the limited RTP funds available, I have to carefully prioritise and allocate resources across various urgent needs in the constituency to ensure that all communities benefit fairly. While Phase 1 could only deliver part of the hall, I remain committed to seeing this project through to full completion,” he added.

During the visit, Yap requested JKR to urgently prepare the scope of works and Bill of Quantities for Phase 2, which will focus on completing the hall, including the construction of a stage and other essential facilities.
He said Phase 2 will be funded under his RTP allocation of RM300,000 for 2026.

Yap also called on JKR to expedite the preparation of drawings and documentation, targeting completion by the end of April 2026 to ensure timely implementation.

“The completion of this hall is not just about infrastructure. It is about investing in our children, our schools, and our future. We will continue to push forward, step by step, to deliver meaningful improvements for the people,” he said.
