UNIFOR cheque For St. David Chapel
St. David Chapel in Kampung Bumbok received a RM195,000 allocation from the Sarawak Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) during a cheque presentation ceremony held in conjunction with the Christmas gathering at the community hall.
The cheque was presented by Batu Kitang State Assemblyman Dato Ir. Lo Khere Chiang, reflecting the continued commitment of the Sarawak Government to promoting inter religious harmony and supporting the development of non Muslim places of worship across the state.
Speaking at the event, Lo said the Sarawak Government remains steadfast in ensuring that all religious communities are treated with fairness and respect.
“This allocation is a reflection of Sarawak’s long standing policy of inclusiveness and mutual respect among people of different faiths. The government will continue to support the development and improvement of places of worship so that they remain conducive for religious and community activities,” he said.
He added that such initiatives strengthen unity and understanding at the grassroots level, which has always been a key pillar of Sarawak’s peace and stability.
The allocation will be used for development and upgrading works at the chapel, including improvements to worship facilities as well as to support religious and community related activities for the congregation and local residents.
Representatives of St David Chapel expressed their sincere appreciation to the Sarawak Government and UNIFOR for the meaningful contribution, which was presented in conjunction with the Christmas celebration.
The cheque presentation ceremony highlighted the spirit of unity, mutual respect and goodwill that continues to form the foundation of harmony among Sarawak’s multi racial and multi religious society.
