Adam Yii Inspects Drainage Upgrade Works at Jalan Pujut 3
Mayor Miri Adam Yii conducted a site inspection today at the ongoing drainage system upgrade works along Jalan Pujut 3 to ensure that the project is progressing smoothly, meets construction standards and delivers tangible improvements to the surrounding community.
The drainage upgrade involves the reconstruction and widening of existing drains, strengthening of underground structures and improvement of water flow routes. Upon completion, the drainage channels will be fully covered to enhance safety for pedestrians and road users, reduce accident risks associated with open drains and create a cleaner, safer and more orderly road environment.
The contractor is currently carrying out key works including structural reinforcement, steel bar installation and grouting of the drainage trenches. Overall progress remains on schedule.
“The effectiveness of a drainage system directly affects residents’ safety and traffic conditions, especially during the rainy season. This area has long faced water pooling issues and they must be resolved thoroughly,” Yii said.
He explained that in addition to improving drainage capacity, the decision to fully cover the drains was made to safeguard residents in the long term.
“Once the project is completed, I believe the quality of life here will improve significantly,” he added.
Yii also said he will continue to closely monitor the project to ensure the contractor strictly adheres to construction specifications while minimising disruption to traffic and nearby residents.
“I thank residents for their patience and cooperation throughout the construction period. I hope everyone will continue to follow traffic instructions to ensure both construction and road safety,” he said.
