2026 Sarawak Budget Shows Visionary Governance and Strong Commitment to Public Welfare, says Eric Tay
MBKS Councilor Eric Tay Tze Kok expressed his deep appreciation for the Sarawak government’s foresight and pragmatic approach reflected in the 2026 Sarawak State Budget. He described it as a budget designed for the people and built for the future, carrying the government’s responsibility for public welfare while outlining a long term development path for Sarawak.
Tay said the budget showcases the Sarawak government’s governance philosophy which balances long term planning with practical execution. It clearly sets out the state’s development direction for the next decade with emphasis on modernization, technological progress and green development. He noted that the budget aims to bring comprehensive improvements across economic, social and environmental sectors.
In terms of infrastructure, Tay said the budget focuses on strengthening both rural and urban road networks to improve connectivity and mobility for the people.
Tay also highlighted that the budget strengthens the implementation of MA63 rights, energy autonomy, fiscal independence and resource governance, creating a stable and sustainable future for Sarawak. He described the budget as more than a financial report, but a blueprint that will influence the next generation and shape Sarawak’s future. He said it is like a gentle breeze that touches every community and household, bringing hope and confidence.
On urban development and rural opportunities, he said the budget improves urban livability while creating opportunities for rural communities.
Cr Tay also welcomed the strong emphasis on education and talent development, noting that it provides young Sarawakians with more opportunities and platforms to grow. He added that the promotion of the digital economy and the local entrepreneurial ecosystem will boost innovation and give new momentum to the economy.
Tay said, “This budget is like a gentle spring breeze that quietly nurtures every community, household and individual. It reminds us that the greater the vision, the greater the responsibility. The Sarawak government is steadily shaping a brighter future for this land.” He called on all sectors to support the budget and work together to build a stronger and more resilient Sarawak.
He reiterated that this budget is not only an economic plan but also a strategic guide for social, cultural and environmental development. It will lead Sarawak forward in education, technology, green economy, energy transition and rural revitalization, ensuring that all communities can share in the benefits. He expressed confidence that the implementation of this budget will bring a more stable, prosperous and hopeful future for Sarawak.
“Sarawak is rising. We must work together so that everyone can participate in and enjoy the progress. The greater the vision, the greater the responsibility. The future will be better. This is not only an expectation but a guide for our actions.
