Padawan Municipal Council Holds “OKU Prihatin: Sustainable Environment” Program at PDK Mambong

The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) today organised the “OKU Prihatin: Sustainable Environment” program at the PDK Mambong Community Rehabilitation Centre.

The program, initiated by MPP’s Library Unit with participation from the MPP Public Affairs and Community Development Committee, aimed to raise awareness among persons with disabilities (OKU) about the importance of environmental cleanliness and sustainability. A total of 25 trainees and staff from PDK Mambong took part, demonstrating their commitment to environmental responsibility.

“The program is designed to educate the OKU community on the importance of cleanliness and environmental sustainability, encourage their active participation in community activities, foster a spirit of cooperation, provide opportunities for meaningful physical engagement, and promote sustainable practices through cleanup and restoration activities,” said MPP Chairman Tan Kai.

Activities were hands-on and fully involved the participants, including communal cleaning of surrounding areas. Painting of the centre was also carried out to brighten and beautify PDK Mambong. These activities served as an inclusive platform uniting both the local community and the OKU community.

A token presentation was conducted by Cr. Samsudin Sapri, Chairman of MPP’s Public Affairs and Community Development Committee, in recognition of the strong cooperation received. His presence underscored MPP’s ongoing support for initiatives that promote social inclusion and environmental sustainability within the council’s jurisdiction.
