Dato Sebastian – do not listen to lies

The longhouse folks and villagers should not be conned into thinking that Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) has been de-registered and a new party is taking its place.

SUPP Publicity Chief, Dato’ Sebastian Ting said he was upset to gather feedbacks from kampong and longhouse folks as some unscrupulous people had been misleading the rural people.

“Even during my rounds of visit to the rural areas, there are some people who asked me if this were true. I am amazed at what some people would do to lie to gain political mileage. These people should come clean and not spread rumours to gain support,” he said.

Ting said the SUPP members are now consolidating after the difficult phase of crisis the last few years. “We are working towards a united front and our internal squabble is now a thing of the past. We are all aiming forward to a rejuvenated party and it is upsetting to hear of such. I only hope that it is indeed a rumour,” said Ting.

Urging those not in the Barisan Nasional component parties to play a gentleman game, Ting said to lie to the rural people to gain support is a dirty game to play. “If they really want support from the people, work and serve them to gain confidence and support and not to lie to gain support. The truth will prevail ,” he added.

Former Sibu SUPP Chairman, Dato’ Sri Wong Soon Koh lead a few party leaders to join Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) on May 15 after teaming up with former President of Sarawak Progressive Democratic party (SPDP), Tan Sri William Mawan.

Rumours were rift that Wong would be forming another party, People’s Alliance for Justice of Peace party (Peace) as there were allegation of unhappiness in Teras over the office bearers.

On July 17, a few days after two months, Wong dropped another bombshell, this time for having his own party, United People’s Party (UPP) of which he would be the President of the party said to be registered three days before.

Top leaders from SUPP, SPDP and PRS put up a united front and voiced their disagreement of allowing Teras or Upp to be accepted as BN component parties.

So far there has been no confirmation of any acceptance of the two parties from the top BN leaders.
