Wilfred Yap Presents MRP Grant to BEM Olive Garden, Supports UNIFOR Application

Kota Sentosa State Assemblyman, Wilfred Yap visited BEM (SIB) Olive Garden to present a Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant of RM15,000 in support of the church’s programmes and community activities.

He also presented a letter of support for the church’s application to the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) for a grant of RM56,000. The funds, if approved, will go towards the purchase of a provision LED display and musical instruments to enhance worship services and community programmes.

Founded in December 1994, BEM (SIB) Olive Garden has grown into a vibrant place of worship and fellowship, serving the needs of its congregation while fostering stronger community ties in the Kota Sentosa area.

During the presentation, YB Wilfred Yap reaffirmed his commitment to supporting all religious institutions and community organisations in Kota Sentosa, regardless of race or religion. He stressed that such initiatives not only strengthen spiritual life but also promote unity, harmony, and social development.

“Our government under GPS is committed to ensuring that all communities in Sarawak can practise their faith freely and with dignity. Supporting places of worship such as BEM Olive Garden is part of our shared vision to build a stronger, united, and progressive Sarawak,” he said.

He also expressed appreciation to UNIFOR for its vital role in providing financial assistance to non-Islamic religious organisations across Sarawak, improving facilities and easing the burden on congregations.

The visit ended with a fellowship session with church leaders and members.
