St Columba Primary School Sports Day Celebrates Team Spirit and Parental Support
Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts and Piasau State Assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting said sports not only promote physical health, but also serve as a valuable platform to shape students’ character, foster teamwork, and build a healthy sense of competition.
He shared this during the opening ceremony of the 68th Annual Sports Day of SK St Columba this morning, which featured 58 events involving pupils from Primary 1 to Primary 6. The occasion saw strong participation from students, teachers, and parents, reflecting the school’s vibrant spirit and close-knit community.
Sebastian praised the collaboration between the school, its Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG), and the board of governors in supporting the holistic development of students — academically, physically, socially, and morally.
He also expressed appreciation for the parents’ presence, calling their support one of the greatest driving forces in a child’s growth.
“Parental involvement is crucial to a school’s success. Your presence here today is the most valuable encouragement for your children,” he said.
He further acknowledged the efforts of the organising committee, commending their well-executed planning and strong teamwork that ensured the event ran smoothly and successfully.
