State Assemblyman Kota Sentosa Wilfred Yap Reply to Ex President of PBDS
Kota Sentosa State Assemblyman, Wilfred Yap acknowledged the concerns and feedback raised by Bobby William, Ex President of Parti Bangsa Dayak Sarawak regarding the “Sumbangan Ikhlas Gawai” initiative specifically for villages in dayak kampungs in his constituency of N12 Kota Sentosa and appreciate the opportunity to clarify its intent.
The initiative was conceived with the sincere aim of appreciation and providing modest assistance to families in the Dayak community residing in kampungs in the constituency of N12 Kota Sentosa during the festive season.
Contrary to Bobby William’s opinion, Yap said his effort was never intended to diminish the profound cultural significance of Gawai Dayak, which he deeply respect as a celebration of heritage, unity, and identity. The distribution of vouchers was a small gesture of goodwill, not a substitute for the broader development needs of the community.
He fully agree with Bobby William that the Dayak people deserve more than symbolic assistance and that they deserve sustainable progress in education, infrastructure, healthcare, and economic opportunities and on his part and has allocated significant amounts under his RTP and MRP allocations to the six Dayak kampungs in his constituency for the said purposes.
He said he remains committed to advocating long-term improvements in his constituency of Kota Sentosa and welcomes constructive dialogue with all stakeholders to ensure that future initiatives align with the community’s dignity and aspirations and reaffirms his respect for the Dayak community’s pride and traditions.
