Batu Kitang State Assemblyman, Dato IR Lo Khere Chiang checks the Seng Goon park
Batu Kitang State Assemblyman, Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang has announced the commencement of the Seng Goon Garden Community Park Upgrading Project under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).
He said the project, implemented by the Public Works Department (JKR) Kuching, aimed to enhance park facilities and address community concerns to provide a better public space for residents.
“The upgrade will focus on improving infrastructure, particularly pathways and open spaces, to create a safer and more enjoyable environment. One of the key improvements includes laying a two-inch concrete layer to prevent grass overgrowth on interlocking tiles, ensuring a smoother walking and jogging surface. Additionally, existing pathways will be widened for better accessibility, and the drainage system will be upgraded to prevent waterlogging during the rainy season, ” he said.
Recognizing the park’s importance for activities such as tai chi and jogging, Lo said the project is designed to create a more stable and level surface for users. More parking spaces will also be added to accommodate visitors.
Lo expressed gratitude to JKR Kuching, particularly Engineer Olivia and her team, for their dedication to the project.
He added that the RM100,000 initial funding will be used efficiently, with plans to secure additional funds if necessary.
Highlighting the importance of public spaces in fostering a healthier and more connected community, he hoped that the project will benefit Batu Kitang residents and make the park a source of pride for all.
