MPP Chairman, Tan Kai disclosed his MPP implementation last year

The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) continues to play a pivotal role in driving development and improving infrastructure through the Rural Transformation Project (RTP), said it’s Chairman, Tan Kai.

He said this initiative, introduced by the Sarawak Government, empowers state assembly members with RM5 million annually to implement community-benefiting projects within their constituencies.

Tan Kai emphasized that MPP’s primary income is derived from assessment rates, which are used to deliver essential services, including, Garbage collection and treatment, Street lighting maintenance, Sewerage treatment, Grass cutting and drain clearing, Hawker and market management and Recreation park maintenance

“While these services ensure the daily well-being of residents, infrastructure development and upgrades depend largely on government grants, particularly through RTP funding.
As the implementing body, MPP works closely with the Kuching Resident’s Office and collaborates with technical agencies such as the Public Works Department (JKR), Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), Kuching Water Board (KWB), and other utility agencies to ensure smooth execution and timely delivery of these projects, ” he added.

At the close of 2024, MPP Chairman Cr. Tan Kai announced that the successful implementation of 93 projects under RTP within MPP’s jurisdiction, thanks to the local assemblymen who utilized the grants allocated to them.

The breakdown of RTP projects implemented by MPP in 2024 included 7 projects in the Pantai Damai constituency worth RM900,000.033 projects in the Tupong constituency worth RM250,000, 1 project in the Satok constituency worth RM150,000, 11 projects in the Kota Sentosa constituency worth RM2.17 million, 38 projects in the Batu Kitang constituency worth RM3.96 million, 12 projects in the Batu Kawah constituency worth RM2.97 million, 3 projects in the Stakan constituency worth RM700,000.00, 13 projects in the Mambong constituency worth RM1.52 million, 2 projects in the Petra Jaya constituency worth RM250,000.00 and 3 projects in the Puncak Borneo constituency worth RM600,000.00

He said MPP will continue to support the local assemblymen in delivering RTP projects in their constituencies.
