State assemblyman for Batu Kitang visiting the crime area in Taman Lee Ling

State Assemblyman for Batu Kitang, Dato IR Lo Khere Chiang called the Federal government to beef up more police manpower, police vehicle and CCTV installed to prevent break in in the housing estates in Batu Kitang.

He said there were so many complaints of robbery and burglary in the area that his service centre received so many such complaints that it warranted him to go to the ground to see for himself what was happening.

From his understanding, Lo said it was due to the shortage of police manpower and the huge Padawan area that caused so many break-ins and robberies.

He urged MP Stampin to bring up in parliament to ask for more power in Padawan to strengthen the police force as there should be more police patrolling.

Lo said with more CCTV installed, it is a deterrent for criminals to be more fearful.

After getting the feedback from the residents, he said there were few families who were tied up and robbed by robbers who managed to get into their houses. He said there were several attempts to go into several houses recently and on Monday night, a house was broken into and ransacked.

He said three houses were broken into another housing estate at Batu Kitang on Tuesday and the house owners said burglars used to break in at night but now they do so in broad daylight as they get more daring.

Due to the frequent break in, Lo said the estate residents have set up whatsapp groups to alert each other in case of any suspicious character loitering around.
