Kuching International busking festival 2024 kicks off today
The much-anticipated Kuching International Busking Festival (KIBF) 2024 kicks off today, transforming the city into a vibrant stage for performers from across Kuching and beyond. Running from August 29th to August 31st, this three-day festival promises to be an extraordinary celebration of music, culture, and
community.
Highlights of KIBF 2024:
Over 40 Acts:
- Performers from various performing arts will take to the streets, delivering a wide array of performances ranging from music and dance to Chinese opera and public speaking.
Iconic Venues: - Acts will be staged across various iconic locations around Carpenter Street, the Kuching Waterfront, India Street and Plaza Merdeka, making the city come alive with artistic expression.
Top 10 Prizes:
• Talented buskers will compete for top prizes, including RM5,000 for the 1st Place winner, RM3,000 for 2nd Place, and RM2,000 for 3rd Place, with additional prizes for the top 10 performers.
Special Awards:
- The festival features several special awards, including the Plaza Merdeka People’s Choice Award, the Continental Cycles Emerging Artist Award, and the Petra Jaya Properties Under 18 Best Talent
Award, recognizing outstanding talent across all age groups.
Speakers’ Corner:
- New this year, the Speakers’ Corner provides a platform for open discussions and idea exchanges, allowing the community to engage in meaningful conversations on a range of topics.
Esteemed Judges:
A of distinguished judges, including Executive Producer of Front Row Asia Zaid Zaini, and Director of La Danse Company Ivy Chua, will be evaluating the performances.
