Lo Khere Chiang says, “We are ready for any eventuality”
Chairman of Padawan Municipal Council who is also Batu Kitang State Assemblyman, Lo Khere Chiang said the 10th Mile RELA Operation Center established in 1986 has since recruited a team of 150 volunteers who have been serving the area in times of need.
He said in addition to offering rescue and assistance to cushion the impact of floods, the center will assist in relieving the inconvenience caused by other disasters.
Lo added that his team has set up the Voluntary Operation Centre at the low-lying areas and Kampongs of Batu Kitang where boats complete with motors are physically on site, ready to be dispatched anytime by the volunteer team in times of need.
He paid a courtesy visit to the 10th Mile RELA Operation Center situated behind Padawan council this morning to monitor the progress of the center’s preparation as well as facilities meant for flood relieve and rescue.
Accompanied him were Datuk Paduka Wong Say Khim, Datuk Tan Joo Phoi and Kapitan Chin Hon Yun.
