CCTV sets up as crime prevention tactic

CCTV cameras has been installed in many areas to monitor crime activities in Batu Kitang.

MPP Chairman, Lo Khere Chiang launched the CCTV operation for areas Arang Road, Kong pin, Dogan, Batu Kitang and Third Mile market this morning at the MJC police station.

There was a total of 18 cameras costing RM600,000 installed and Lo said he will increase the CCTV cameras from time to time to ensure security in Batu Kitang.

Lo said Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) is planning to set up CCTV all over Sarawak in the future.

The CCTV installed, he said, can see crime taking place and they can freeze, zoom in to the person or vehicles for identification.

Victims he added, could go to the Balai Police MJC to report and check.

Lo added he will be bringing this system to Padawan Municipal Council operation room for his staff to monitor the areas.

He said the police will be monitoring the CCTV and information can be stored for a month.
