Wilfred Yap wants to eliminate poverty in Kota Sentosa
GPS/ SUPP candidate for Sentosa constituency, Wilfred Yap said a vote for him is a vote for poverty elevation.
Yap declared his intentions to prioritise easing the lives of the hard core poor particularly at the Stampin Resettlement Scheme Area and believed that within 5 years we will be able to significantly reduce if not eliminate the hard core poor category from the area.
“In no way are we saying that we will provide them with Gold paved roads and Diamond street lightings but we do want to address the job issue there and find a way to connect the people there with available jobs so that they can come out of the poverty trap. Our campaign is confident that the voters in N12 Kota Sentosa will not be side tracked by DAP’s theatrics and tendencies to evade the truth wherever convenient and sometimes omit it (the truth) entirely”, he said.
Yap lamented that people who lie constantly may even believe the lies they spew so it is possible that DAP really believes their own rhetoric because that is the only explanation as to why they continue to use this tactic to try and confuse voters?
“On the other hand we have chosen to be practical with the voters and explain our mission clearly and as effectively as we can. The mission to alleviate poverty stricken people is something that I feel should be an obligation and not just a campaign promise and that is why I ask that whomsoever wins the N12 seat should commit to do the same because it is just the right thing to do.So we ask all the other candidates in this contest to similarly make a pledge as we are doing today, to make elevating of hard core poor poverty as the first priority come the next 5 years,” he said.
The goal here is that no matter who gets in, he added, this issue will be addressed and looked into immediately. He said he wanted Stampin resettlement scheme area to be elevated to a much-much more beautiful, clean and hopeful housing area.
