Wilfred Yap urges public to be civic minded in disposing waste

SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief Wilfred Yap recently received a complaint and request for assistance on a clogged public drain in front of Kota Sentosa Market. Following the request for assistance received, the complaint was immediately communicated to Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) and the blocked public drain have been cleared of plastic waste and flushed clean.

Yap who is also an MPP councillor is very disappointed that clogged public drains are usually caused by improper food and plastic waste disposal and hopes that the public and traders will act responsibly by not disposing plastic and food waste into public drains.

He said to ensure that blockage of public drains does not happen again, he requested MPP officers to issue reminders to the business operators to ensure that all food and plastic waste are properly disposed and hoped that the public and traders will be more civic minded as everyone has a common duty to protect our environment. A clean and hygienic environment would also attract more customers for the business community.

Yap said he will continue to serve as the eyes and ears of our community and will continue to highlight and try to resolve issues or problems of public interest affecting the public and remain fully committed to serving the “rakyat” regardless of their race, religious and political inclinations (“people over politics”).
