Do not mislead the public, Adam Yii tells irresponsible politicians
Many netizens had voiced their opinions towards the government’s decision to loosen the SOP required to enter Sarawak in respond to some irresponsible comments initiated by certain politicians, and some had taken a step further to make this a political issue opposing the decision of the Sarawak Government.
According to SUPP Publicity and Information Secretary Adam Yii, he sees these approaches as “cheap political tactics”, where an individual criticizes just any government’s agenda with the intention to mislead the rakyat to create resentment among the rakyat towards the government in order to achieve their personal political gains.
Apart from this matter, these individuals also made several deceptive comments regarding the proposed amendments to the Federal Constitution, stating that this is just another tactic used by the ruling coalition for the upcoming Sarawak election. Adam Yii condemns these irresponsible slurs, and he urges these individuals to stop creating more hatred but unite Sarawakians to bring about changes and policies that would truly benefit Sarawak.
After nearly 2 years being hampered by the pandemic, we now have a mutual enemy: COVID 19. It is critical that we must now unite irrespective of race, religion, beliefs, political stances, background, social hierarchy, occupation, etc to revive the economy and come out of this pandemic victoriously together. Yii stated that reopening the borders is only one of the many strategies to revitalize the economy. He urges everyone to stand by the government and believe that all latest SOPs formulated are with the best interests of the rakyat as the foundation of consideration.
The government is grieved to see her rakyat greatly affected by the pandemic. Aside from the threat of contracting the Covid 19 virus, the rakyat are now facing another great challenge economically. For the economy to revive, the government must have a series of strategy to restore the economy. Yii humbly ask for the rakyat to support the government in her effort to restore economy, or at least do not create more hatred and division among Sarawakians to hinder the work of the government.
With regards to the proposed amendments to the Federal Constitution, it had been the focus of the government since the leadership of the late Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Pehin Sri Adenan bin Haji Satem to strengthen Sarawak’s autonomy. The matter was not raised due to the national Darurat, but now that the Parliament seating has resumed, this proposed amendment will be tabled on the 25th of October 2021 to be debated in the Parliament. This goes to prove that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government is focused on the Sarawakian’s desire to strengthen Sarawak’s autonomy in accordance to MA63, unlike what was claimed by those irresponsible and hatred driven politicians claimed.
Yii welcomes the government’s decision to loosen the SOPs require to enter Sarawak, which would result in the increased number of flights to Sarawak and daily visitors would increase in due time. In addition, Sarawakians are now able to travel to Sabah, Labuan and West Malaysia more conveniently for business purposes or to visit family members. However, he reiterate that it is the duty of all Sarawakians to adhere to the SOPs regulated by the government, and if all Sarawakians would collaborate with the government, he strongly believe that the journey to recovery would be much easier for everyone.
