Phase 1 and 2 of Batu kawah Riverbank project to be officiated by CM next month
Phase one and Phase two of the Sky Window which is part of the Batu Kawah Riverbank Park project commenced in late 2018 will be completed by next month and to be officiated by Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari, said Batu Kawah State Assemblyman, Dato’ Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian.
By then, members of the public will be able to go up and view the Sky Window which cost RM8 million.
Dr. Sim who is also Minister of Local government and Housing said currently, they are in the fourth phase of the Riverside Park development plan. During the two years tenure of Pakatan Rakyat government, he said the project was cancelled. “It would be completed by now if they have not cancelled it,” he added.
The park has a unique design and a total of 2km walkway from the Chinese temple at the Batu Kawa Old Bazaar all the way to Kampung Rantau Panjang on the other end.
Dr. Sim said the fourth phase is funded by the federal government while the fifth phase which involved works at Kampung Rantau Panjang will be funded by the state government and implemented by the state Drainage and Irrigation Department.
Phase 3, he explained, will link all these four phases, with a sensual glass bridge over Sungai Moyan. Not only is the Batu Kawah Riverbank Park project aimed at transforming the wasteland there, it also offers a conducive area to promote healthy lifestyle and community cohesiveness among the locals.
