Traffic lights at Mile 7 in operation
The long waited traffic light junction at Mile 7 is finally back in operation at 3.30pm yesterday.
Batu Kitang State Assemblyman, Lo Khere Chiang who is also Padawan Municipal Council chairman officially switched on the traffic light with JKR officers and contractor at Mile 7.
Lo thanked the public for their patient and understanding for having to bear with the road congestion for the r almost three months.
He said the Mile 10 traffic light junction and the two road way will be completed by end of this month. This, he said, was promised by the contractor and JKR and he will monitor the progress to make sure they are done by then.
The traffic jam will not be so bad once the two-way road are completed. At this point, there are some areas where one way was closed for road maintenance.
With the opening of the traffic light, Lo believed that the traffic jam at Mile 7 will be miminised by 50 percent.
At the end of this year, the flyover will be completed and traffic jam from Serian to Kuching will be a thing of the past, he added.
