Sebastian Ting appeals to CM for mirco enterprises BKSS assistance
Chief Minister, Datuk Pattinggi Abang Johari ’s has good intention to help active businesses in Sarawak when he made an announcement two months back of a special one-off financial assistance of RM 10,000 to be given under the Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) 7.0 to active businesses in Sarawak registered with SOCSO as of December 31, 2020, said SUPP Secretary General, Datuk Sebastian Ting.
CM, he said further added that the special one-off financial assistance is to help active businesses to cover their operational cost, including rental and wages of their employees especially the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through these hard times caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
SUPP, Ting said, has reflected this to Economic Planning Unit and appealed to CM to include the micro enterprises for the special one-off financial assistance of RM 10,000.
According to SME Corporation Malaysia, the micro enterprises are those companies with sales turnover of less than RM 300,000 per year or less than 5 full-time employees.
“From the ground feedbacks, there were much confusions and disappointment among the business communities that the special one-off financial assistance is only for the SMEs. However, it appears from the CM’s announcement that the special one-off financial assistance should not only be exclusively for the SMEs.We firmly believe that we need to support the micro enterprises because they also play a critical and important role in our whole state’s economy and indeed this group has been greatly impacted by the pandemic resulting huge drop of revenues and incur substantial losses, ” he said.
Ting hoped that CM will favourably consider to include the micro enterprises for this special one-off financial assistance of RM 10,000.
