Be patient, Lo Khere Chiang urges Road users

Padawan Municipal council (MPP) Chairman, Lo Khere Chiang urged road users to bear with the traffic jam for another ten days as the contractor has assured him of completing works at the flyover at the traffic lights junction at Kota Sentosa.

Early this week, Lo who went to the site with JKR engineers and contractors said he had explained the whole issue of why the traffic jam is getting so bad but still many road users still reached out to him to complain.

He said the contractors instead of completing the flyover first did improvement works on the roads below the bridge. “Unstandable that all roads have a life span, it is creating more jam when the flyover itself has not been completed and with more closure of roads in that area, the jam was worse. But, what is done cannot be undone so the only way we can is to ensure that they complete everything fast which they, the contractors, assured that it will be within two weeks,” he said.

Lo who is also the State assemblyman for Batu Kitang, called to the road users to bear with it. As the contractors have made the assurance, they said they will bring in more manpower to complete the job faster.

He said he was on time to stop them from upgrading the road below the bridge at Mile 6. “I have told them to complete other areas first and do the roads at Mile 6 when Mile 7 issues are done. I also reminded them to make sure that there are alternative routes to go to the airport once they decide to do the road upgrading, otherwise, the traffic jam will still be as bad,” he added. He suggested that if Mile 6 Road is closed, the contractor can construct a temporary U-turn before Kuching Central traffic light to make an alternative turn to the Kuching International airport to prevent a bottle neck there.

He hoped that such mitigation of the routes will minimise the congestion.
