Dr Sim says do not panic looking at the Covid-19 statistics

Sarawakians should not look at the daily figures of positive cases and panic but instead they need to understand the figures and make sense of it due to different stages of a disease, said Local government and Housing Minister, Dato’ Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian.

He said he is glad that Sarawakians continue to remain interested with daily figures despite the pandemic has been around for almost two ways. Looking at it positively, he said it shows Sarawakians still care and the frontliners are not left to tread on the path alone. This, he added, reflects our spirit of solidarity, we are in this together.

Dr sim pointed out that compared to other states like : Malacca 448 cases with 10 deaths, KL 631 with 10 deaths, Perak 1197 with 20 deaths, Kelantan 1458 with 14 deaths, Kedah 1489 with 43 deaths, Penang 1776 cases with 34 deaths, Sabah 2107 with 45 deaths, Johor 2173 with 53 death, Selangor 2407 with 55 deaths and Sarawak 3200 with 7 deaths,

“In post-vaccination era, 99 percent will be in Catogery 1 and 2 with 99% recovery and even though we are living with virus, we still view it seriously as we do need to stay alert but need not be gripped by panic every day upon seeing the daily case numbers.

He said despite all these, everyone must play their part seriously to slow down local transmission so that the sheer number of positive cases would not drain our healthcare resources, especially the availability of ICU beds.
