Tread cautiously when we move to Phase 3, says Dr Sim
Local government and Housing Minister, Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian said there is a need for Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) to meet and modify the planned schedule to tighten SOP, given delta variant aerosol in nature, to take into consideration of new emerging issues of Covid 19.
Dr. Sim was commenting on this after Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced on Monday that Sarawak with Perlis and Labuan will transition into Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) on Wednesday August 4.
He said Sarawak needed to learn from others, what not to do especially high incidence of silent hypoxia and brought in dead in West Malaysia, long Covid syndrome).
Thus he said in order for Sarawakian to be safe when embark Phase 3 of NRP, Sarawak needed to practise caution the virus can spread fast as experts predicted globally, especially with the delta variant and high numbers of positive cases in Kuching-Samarahan and Serian.
While Sarawakians are proud of MKN Malaysia’s recognition Sarawak is fulfilling the National Recovery Plan’s “nilai ambang” for moving to Phase 3, it is a result of Sarawakian united war efforts, which included high vaccination rate Dose 1 & 2 and drastic decline in category 3,4,5 covid 19 patients in the hospitals.
Dr. Sim said eventually, we will have to live with the virus.
