Dr Sim Kui Hian urges all to be cautious due to the emergence of Delta variant
A total of 52 staff and inmates from Sentosa Hospital has been tested positive for covid 19, confirmed Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, Minister of Local government and Health minister.
Dr. Sim said Covid-19 virus is constantly mutating, thus Sarawakians are advised to take precautions despite Sarawak entering Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
The dine in which was part of the second phase was cancelled at the last minute due to the emergence of 16 cases of Delta variant of COVID-19 have been detected in Kuching bringing the total number Delta variant cases to 17.
Dr Sim added that a new case of Beta variant has also been detected in Kuching, bringing the total number of Beta variant cases to 45, in which 3 were imported cases.
He said in Phase One, they focused on saving lives, and in Phase Two, it is about saving the livelihoods of the people.Sarawak could manage its way through this challenging time provided Sarawakians continue to observe and adhere strictly to standard operating procedures (SOP).
So far, 4000th dose of vaccine has been vaccinated at Batu Kawah clinic on Monday. Dr. Sim thanked medical volunteer, both young and old doctors, GP, specialists and nurses for their effort.
