Express boat service to Kapit suspends until further notice

Sarawak Minister of Transport, Datuk Lee Khim Shin said the Kapit Division Disaster Management Committee with the approval of the State Disaster Management Committee had made a decision to temporarily suspend the express boat services into and within Kapit Division starting 30th May until further notice.

He said the details on express boat routes affected by the aforementioned directive are shown below;
i. Kapit – Putai – Kapit;
ii. Sibu – Kapit – Putai – Kapit – Sibu; and
iii. Kapit – Belaga – Kapit.

The decision, he reckoned, made is indeed very timely to contain the spread of covid-19 in Kapit Division especially with the coming Gawai Dayak celebration on 1st June 2021.

With this decision, Lee added, the Ministry of Transport, Sarawak through its agency, Sarawak Rivers Board has issued riverine notice to all affected owners and operators of the express boat as well as the public on the temporary suspension of express boat services into and within Kapit Division commencing 30th May 2021 until further notice.
