Sebastian Ting urges all to follow SOP strictly
Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Sarawak, Datuk Sebastian Ting called to Sarawakians to maintain a high alert on COVID-19 epidemic by following its SOP strictly.
Ting said with cases going up and Sarawak being the highest positive cases is something we all should be aware of as the Sarawak government is fighting hard to curb the pandemic but need the cooperation of the public to flatten the curve.
Ting said that the COVID-19 epidemic has plagued us for a year, and many have felt depressed and tired of it. However, looking on the positive side, Ting said he hoped everyone will not feel discouraged but be disciplined in following the SOP like wearing masks, sanitizing and practising social distancing.
He said if everyone will follow the rules, the chances of a flatten curve will definitely be back but still, no one should be complacent about it.
“Since the outbreak in Sarawak has worsened, the Sarawak government has adopted a tightening of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for epidemic prevention, especially for the red areas and “severely-hit areas” and the public should understand that it is for their own good.”
Ting said they also do not want to come to a situation where there is total lock down as it may affect the economy of the State. Thus, to prevent that from happening, he said, that is why the cooperation of the people is very important.
“I understand the hardship many businesses are facing and have alerted the SDMC on their grievances. However, looking at such a high positive caes, there must be some compromise to ensure that the cases are brought down first,” he added.
The government said Ting is trying their best to do what they can to bring down the cases first. And he urged those who have yet to be registered to do so. As only through vaccination, he said, they will be able to have herd immunity.
