Dato Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian appreciating former comrade and Mayor, Datuk Song Swee Guan
Former Mayor for Kuching City South, Datuk Song Swee Guan expressed his appreciation and joy to the Sarawak United people’s party (SUPP) for remembering his contribution to both the party and the council in the past.
When contacted by Utusan Sarawak, Song now 80 said he has been living his life after his retirement quietly and making the most of everyday.
The Tabuan Jaya Neighbourhood Park has been renamed as Mayor Song Swee Guan Park in honour of his contributions as the Chairman of KMC and continue on as founding Mayor of MBKS & his role as a pioneer of the green city concept in the state on Comrade Dato Sri Song’s birthday.
President of SUPP, Dato Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian who is also the Minister of Local government and Housing said the party never forget the contribution put in b older cadres. He said this is in line of keeping Asian values and traditions alive of recognising and acknowledging our leaders and members who had done so much in the past. Without your sacrifices, dedication, contributions and leadership, we would not be able to build on and move forwards further.
He added that the Tabuan Jaya Neighbourhood Park has been renamed as Mayor Song Swee Guan Park in honour of his contributions as the founding mayor of Kuching South & his role as a pioneer of the green city concept in the state
Song was also an MP and Adun and then a Speaker in the State Legislative assembly besides being the first Mayor for Kuching City South (MBKS) in 1988.
