Kho Teck Wan says SUPP still helps to inform collection of Kenyalang Gold Cards
SUPP did not hog the Kenyalang gold card as public continues to be informed through text messages by Welfare Department to pick them at welfare department, said SUPP Central Woman chief, Kho Teck Wan.
She said unlike what was claimed by Opposition, SUPP is still assisting Welfare department to distribute the ‘unclaimed’ KGC that were not being picked up by public and had organised larger distribution sessions when Kuching was green zone and COVID19 pandemic was not as severe.
“After Kuching turned red, our speed of distribution slow down as we changed into house to house distribution and calling few people to collect the card at our branches on day at a time. We practice strict SOPs at every distribution program organised. We are trying to be very careful as Kuching is still a red zone now. Please keep in mind that the receipients of the KGC are all senior citizens, they are the high risk group. Should we risk creating any KGC cluster for the mere reason of expediting the distribution? ” she asked.
Kho said their intention of helping to distribute KGC was originally trying to send the cards to those who had applied through us, but now it is our responsibilities to reduce the risk of senior citizen exposure to virus and to avoid community infection and the distribution of KGC will continue on regular basis at the SUPP branches as you can see in our social media postings.
