New cluster if we let down our guard, says Dr. Sim Kui Hian
Advisor to SDMC, Dato’ Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian cautioned Kuching folks to be on alert to prevent another cluster from breaking out.
Dr. Sim said he is worried after 23 positive cases were detected on Sunday among the community where 11 cases were through contact-tracing of the earlier sporadic cases. A new cluster, Jalan Green was found after the tracing.
SDMC has carried out Active case detection (ACD) on the positive cases. Dr. Sim urged all to be vigilant and continued with their SOP of putting on masks and social distancing.
He said it is time people should know the importance of wearing a mask properly instead of wearing it under the nose or chin.
The vaccine will arrive on February 24, Dr. Sim said the launching will be on February 27 at Stadium Perpaduan in Kuching and also in Sibu and despite that, all must continue to be on alert.
He said a lot of preparatory work has been done including carrying out Cold China logistics. So far, he said seven locations throughout Sarawak have been identified for storage which included, Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, Miri, Sri Aman, Sarikei and Limbang to be distributed to 55 centres throughout Sarawak for Phase 1.
“For Pusat Pemberian Vaksin (PPV) not only the medical staff are trained for vaccination but any eventuality. Dry run for the work process – registration, medical checklist, consent, actual vaccination (special needles so wasting of vaccines), post vaccination observation, 2nd vaccination appointment,” he added. However, Dr. Sim said despite the best preparation, the public need to accept that vaccination is the key for prevention and to protect them.
