Dr Sim Kui Hian on a working visit to SGH
Local Government and Housing Minister, Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian went for a working visit to SGH together with JKNS headed by Dr Chin Zin Hin and staffs on progress of PCR lab testing and ICU upgrading.
He thanked KKM Kuala Lumpur for urgently allocating RM21 million for upgrade of facilities, equipment and reagents of the various labs of KKM’s hospitals in Sarawak for PCR testing in view of the surge in cases recently.
“Another RM36 million from KKM Kuala Lumpur is for additional 29 ICU beds and accessories equipment for KKM’s hospitals in Sibu, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang. Although Health is on federal list, it is Sarawakian’s life at stake. Sarawak Government had help to fund urgently the molecular lab, RM1 million each for Limbang and Kapit to enable PCR tests for COVID19 at the local hospitals, ” he said.
In order to help with the additional PCR swab from the Sibu outbreak, Dr. Sim said Sarawak Government has pay for the PCR swab to be tested in UNIMAS, BMC and Gribbles and with all these arrangements (public and private), Sarawak will be able to do more than 6,000 PCR tests for COVID19 per day.
