Wilfred Yap calls government to place people as top priority
With the recent declaration of Covid-19 state of emergency, SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief cum SUPP Kota Sentosa Chairman hopes that the Government would always place the needs of the people as top priority. He also hopes that the PN Federal Government will put “people over politics” and consider additional financial assistance to ease the hardship of the B40 and M40 groups caused by the reimposition of MCO and CMCO.
Despite the state of emergency, he said, the Government should prepare in advance and step up efforts to revive the economy with a clear and dynamic direction by accelerating economic recovery by allowing democracy to function and giving incentives to essential investments for job creation. This is because business confidence for investments is dependent on clarity and consistency of policies based on the rule of law.
Yap hoped that every Government Policy made going forward as well as mitigating measures implemented to fight this covid-19 pandemic will be based on expert and scientific data which takes into account public interest.
On another unrelated matter, Yap continued to receive complaints and request for assistance on various matters especially during this rainy season. One example of such such request for assistance received was from residents of Kampung Sungai Tapang on a fallen tree blocking their access road. Following the request for assistance received, the matter was urgently communicated to the Emergency Response Team of Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) and the fallen tree was immediately cleared.
