CCTV installed to keep Kuching safe
A total of 800 CCTV across 200 sites (MBKS, DBKU, MPP, MPKS) will be installed as part of Smart City (Phase 1) to keep Kuching safe, provide quality of life for the residents, said Minister of Local government and Housing, Dato’ Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian.
He said this is part of the initiative of Digital Sarawak by Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari.
In Batu Kawah, Dr. Sim said they have identified13 sites with more than 50 CCTV for Batu Kawa which will help the police and other authorities to combat crimes, traffic flow, flood monitoring, etc.
Open tender, he added will start in January 2021 by implementing agency SMA. Project will commence by Q2 and expected to be be completed in 12 months.
Various components such as smart traffic light upgrading in Kuching was done last year which involved the Treniken Garbage truck GPS enabled, the hydrogen bus, the free bus Sekolah GPS enabled and soon, the local government enforcement team with body cam.
All will be integrated into Sarawak Integrated Operation Centre (95% completed), the beginning of Smart Kuching sooner than expected.
