Wilfred Yap appeals to hawkers not to discharge food waste in drains
SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief Wilfred Yap recently received a complaint and request for assistance on a clogged sewage pipe and public drain behind some shophouses opposite the Kota Sentosa Market. Following the request for assistance received, the complaint was immediately communicated to Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) and the blocked public drain and sewage pipes have been cleared and repaired.
Yap, who is also an MPP councillor, is very disappointed that the clogged public drain and sewage pipe was caused by food waste and hopes that all food operators will act responsibly by not disposing of food waste into public drains.
To ensure that the blockage of the public drain and sewage pipe does not happen again, Wilfred Yap had requested MPP officers to issue a reminder to the coffee shop owners to ensure that all the sinks in their shop are installed with properly maintained strainers or grease traps to prevent out flow of food waste from being channeled directly into the public drain. Wilfred Yap hopes that food operators will be more civic minded as we all have a common duty to protect the environment. A clean and hygienic environment would also attract more customers for the food operators.
SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief Wilfred Yap shall continue to serve as the eyes and ears of our community and will continue to highlight and try to resolve issues or problems of public interest affecting the public and remain fully committed to serving the “rakyat” regardless of their race, religious and political inclinations (“people over politics”).
SUPP Public Complaints Bureau is always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone facing problems or who come across problems of public interest but does not know how to deal with it. Anyone requiring assistance can always call SUPP Public Complaint Bureau’s mobile number at 016-7797688 or 082-246999 or go direct to SUPP Head Office to request for assistance.
