Miri Mayor checking out eateries
Mayor Miri, Adam Yii with the enforcement went around eateries at Bintang, Saberkas, Boulevard and Permy areas to advise them to comply with the Movement Control Order by not allowing customers to dine in.
Yii said they were allowed to cook for takeaway and ensure traders only allow takeaways for their customers.
Although some did not comply with the rules, Yii gave them a warning as he said it was the first day of the lockdown. However, he warned that for the second offenders, police will be call in to take appropriate action.
Yii also said some traders were not sure of the guidelines so his enforcement team was there to explain to them.
He explained that the checking was necessary to ensure that no big crowd gathered at public places to control the spread of Covid-19.
Such enforcement, he added will continue until the MCO ends on March 31.
