Dato’ Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian said to transform abandoned Batu Kawa Ang Cheng Ho quarry
RM10 million to transform abandoned Batu Kawa Ang Cheng Ho quarry has been approved by Sarawak government. Banquet hall with the capacity of 150 tables and Innovation Center will be built in the first phase.
Minister of Housing and Local Government Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is Batu Kawah assemblyman, said that the development project has obtained approval from Sarawak Land & Survey and State Planning Unit.
“I approached Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and presented him with this RM10 million development project for Batu Kawa, and I am glad that Sarawak government has approved it.” said Dr Sim.
Sim after inspecting the abandoned quarry lake area, disclosed that the authorities will appoint the landscape designer as soon as possible to Pave the way for the comprehensive development of the surrounding area.
“The abandoned Ang Cheng Ho quarry has 20 acres quarry lake, it is a beautiful natural lake, and has potential to be transformed into tourist attractions. In the development blueprint, we will transform it into diversified tourist areas with activities and recreation area. The main selling point will be on the quarry lake whereby it will be developed as the area for various water activities. ”he added.
Dr Sim foreseen that the development project will bring in more employment opportunities for construction sector as well as to stimulate the economy.
