Kho responds to Lim Guan Eng’s speech
SUPP Central Women Chairman Kho Teck Wansaid Minister of Finance YB Lim Guan Eng’s statement about Sarawak going bankrupt in 3 years time is out of this world.
She said based on Sarawak’s 2019 budget, total estimated revenue is RM10.513 billion, and total proposed Ordinary Expenditure is RM10.391 billion, the proposed 2019 Budget is expected to generate a surplus of RM122 million for Sarawak. Sarawak doesn’t need to tap into our reserve.
“Sarawak has the highest reserve in Malaysia, the healthy reserve of over 30 billions was built over 50 years without the interference of DAP, Pakatan, and Finance Minister. Now the minister stepped in, and tell Sarawakians that our reserve will be gone in 3 years and Sarawak will go bankrupt. He had Conveniently dropped Sarawak’s income and based his statement purely on expenditure. Based on his calculation, Penang will be bankrupt within a year. This statement by the Finance Minister proves that he think Sarawakians are stupid,” she added.
According to Bloomberg, Malaysia stock market is the Asia’s only loser in 2019. As a finance minister, Lim should focus on efforts to boost investor confidence instead of spreading false information about Sarawak’s fiscal position. Such statement about Sarawak is completely irresponsible, said Kho.
