Lo Khere Chiang: Bear with the temporary traffic jam at MPP area
State Assemblyman for Batu Lintang, Lo Khere Chiang who is also the MPP Chairman calls for patience from the public on the heavy traffic jam from Mile 4 to Serian.
In a press conference today with LBU, JKR and consultants, Lo said the construction of all the four flyovers at Mile 4. Mile 6, Mile 7 and Mile 10 is scheduled to be completed by Oct 30, 2020 and road commuters are urged to be patient.
He said the projects costing RM50 million started last year and he understood the complaints of the traffic jams along the area.
“Bear with us and by 2020, we will have a smooth traffic flow. At the meantime, we have to put up with it,” he said of the jams.
The biggest challenges, he said was the underground water piping which could not be shut down when work was being carried out as they cater to the industrial area in Sejikat, Demak Laut and Samajaya.
Lo said it was unfortunate that 84,000 vehicles were daily on the road from the city to Serian and there was only one road available.
He hoped that the Federal government will not suspend the project of a 8 kilometer road costing RM372 million from Stampin Baru to Kampung Empit in Muara Tuang. This, he said will provide an option for road users and diverse the congestion problem.
The projects are within MPP area and are part of the packages under the Pan Borneo Highway.
