Free vaccination for dogs
Miri District will be doing another round of free vaccination this Sunday (11th November) between 9 am to 4 pm.
Pet owners who have yet to vaccinate their dogs can bring them to Riam New Market (behind Servay Supermarket Riam), Luak Esplanade and Dewan Kampung Bakam. They are also asked to bring along their identity cards for registration purposes.
So far, there has been no new place with rabies outbreak in Miri. The two places are Piasau Jaya and Lutong Shell.
Piasau State Assemblyman, Datuk Sebastian Ting who has expressed concern over the rabies outbreak said everyone must play a part in eliminating rabies in Miri. He said only through co-operation between pet owners and the authorities would put a stop to it.
He urged pet owners to come forward to have their pet vaccinated.
Since last June, 12 persons succumbed to the rabies disease and 47 areas declared rabies outbreak in Sarawak.
